Mammoth Moments in Miniature provides quick updates on campus happenings. This week’s edition includes a talk on practicing law in the age of President Trump and artificial intelligence, Black Alumni Weekend, and an exhibition by the Amherst Center for Russian Culture.
Practicing Law in the Age of President Trump and AI
On Wednesday, Chair Emeritus of the Amherst College Board Andrew Nussbaum will be the guest for a discussion titled, “Practicing Law in the Age of President Trump and AI,” at 4:30 p.m. in Pruyne Lecture Hall. The talk will be hosted by the law, jurisprudence, and social thought department.
Black Alumni Weekend
Black Alumni Weekend is a biennial event that celebrates Black scholarship, culture, and history at the college. The weekend is planned in partnership with the Amherst Society of Black Alumni. There will be three days of social and academic events, including panels and presentations on the racial history of the college and the 2015 Amherst Uprising, as well as a tailgate party for the Amherst versus Williams football game.
Leonid Lamm’s Prison Dialogue with Fyodor Dostoevsky
The Amherst Center for Russian Culture will feature a talk by curator Maria Timinia on their new exhibit, “Pictures from the Dead House: Leonid Lamm’s Prison Dialogue with Fyodor Dostoevsky” on Friday, Nov. 7, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. The exhibition will feature a series of prints by Soviet nonconformist artist Leonid Lamm (1928-2017) inspired by Fyodor Dostoevsky’s fictionalized memoir of his imprisonment in a Soviet prison.
